The new Toyota Vios model is more stylish and sportier than the previous version. Find out more about Toyota Vios Review here.
Toyota is an auto giant that has been in the industry for a long time. Their line of cars is well-made and has an unrivaled brand value. Their Vios was a huge success, and today, it has been refreshed, just in time for the Philippine car market. Now, we will jump right into the Toyota Vios review in great details!
These are the new iterations of the 2022 Toyota Vios, one of the best-selling cars in the country.
Toyota has redesigned the 2018 Toyota Vios to be sporty and dynamic by adding sporty front and rear bumpers. Other aesthetic changes include sports suspension and a new alloy wheel design.
The 2018 Vios is available as a non-Prime variant, which is sleeker and sharper but retains the essence of the previous generation. The Prime variants, on the other hand, are characterized by bolder bumper garnishings that help make the car look bigger and more dynamic.
Meanwhile, the 2022 model year saw the Vios getting a new set of wheels and headlights. With this year's introduction rev, Toyota did a stellar review of the former bulbs, which sometimes caused visibility issues resulting in accidents. Toyota understands halogen headlight bulbs for lower trim levels since they are much less expensive to implement.
However, because the Velox is geared towards an upmarket audience, we feel it is important to offer more premium options. To this end, Toyota has upgraded their projectors and LED daytime running lights as an alternative to HIDs in both high-end models and on select other trims as well.
This is to give customers who might not be able to deliver top dollar for full upgrading options when it comes down to appearance but still want a bit of sharpened charm without paying full retail investment costs all at once!
Space for passengers is the name of the game for the Toyota Vios. It offers executive-class comfort with soft cushioned seats and lots of room for five members of your family or team to travel in style. The driver's seat position is suitable for short ones, but you might feel strain a bit on longer journeys due to a lack of back support.
A height adjustment function makes it easy to configure the cabin comfortably and comfortably accommodate each squad member even if they have a special need like needing more headroom or legroom than sitting in a regular car seat. This model has ample trunk space, but no folding rear seats mean you'll have difficulty expanding that cargo capacity.
The Vios features a 7" touchscreen infotainment display equipped with Toyota's T-Link system, allowing users to mirror their smartphone device, such as an iPhone. But not everyone is happy with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto not being standard on the Vios. The mid to high-tier trims have additional features like Optitron gauge clusters and navigation.
The Vios comes in two engine options - a 1.3L and a 1.5L. The smaller option makes 98 horsepower and 123 Nm of torque, while the larger engine makes 105 and 140 Nm of torque, respectively. Both may be equipped with a CVT or 5-speed manual transmission depending on the trim level you choose.
Finally, there are two drivetrain configurations - front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive for trims equipped with the standard engine, or an all-wheel-drive configuration for those running the 1.5L turbocharged unit.
When choosing the 1.3-liter engine, drivers will notice the car's tightness at higher speeds for a relatively compact vehicle with limited passenger space. This is because it has a constantly variable transmission, which results in what some would call a 'rubber band' feel and some annoying drawbacks such as long periods spent accelerating until top speeds are reached, unlike other engines like those found in the Ford Fiesta for example.
However, its maximum output of 98 hp and 123 Nm of torque is certainly enough for daily drives around the city or motorway commuting where top speed isn't necessary unless you live somewhere flat like Kansas!
But don't expect much of a fast and spirited driving experience from these trims if you intend on using them as your main driver all of the time during your daily routine, owing to their strength primarily being efficiency over performance!
The body of the Vios is a one-piece series of the car frame, which means that it's light but also strong. The suspension system includes a McPherson strut front, a torsion bar at the rear, and discs for stopping power. However, early Vios models used drum brakes in the back to improve cost-effectiveness.
Although it's a tough vehicle to drive at times due to its small size and low ground clearance, the suspension system is enough to help you stay on smooth roads. You can control your vehicle even on rough terrain.
Ten safety features remain the same as in the previous generation. The latest version of the stability control system includes hill start assist, ABS with EBD, seatbelts for five passengers, the first two of which are 3-tables, Isofix attachments for child seats, and come installed with a child lock mechanism.
Three airbags come as standard in all variants. Vios scores a minimum number of points on adult and child occupancy protection parameters and attains a status of 5 stars (100%) in ASEAN NCAP crash tests.
