In the Philippines market, Hyundai has just launched the 2020 Venue to compete with its competitor Kia Stonic. Aimed at those wishing to own an affordable SUV, Hyundai sets the price list below 1 million for both variants GL and GLS.

1. Hyundai Venue 2020: How's the exterior?

The exterior design of the Hyundai Venue is unique with its boxy look and non-sharp rounded lines. Although the 2020 Venue is in the small crossover segment, the car appearance is quite large and aggressive.

The front stands out with a trapezoidal super-large chrome grille along with the Hyundai logo in the center.

On either side of the grille are an eye-catching two-tiered headlamps system with headlamps above and lower main headlamps that add to the Venue's design’s aggressive look. Besides, the front handle has a silver panel with the model name and two side fog lights.

The side panels are also very prominent, with silver panels along the side and wheel rim. The muscular and robust look in this 2020 model is complemented by protruding wheel fenders. 

The sharp creases along the door handles add depth to the overall design. 

Additionally, the wheels have a compact and modern design, with 15-inch wheels for the GL variant and 17-inch alloy wheels for the GLS variant.

The design behind the Venue is not too prominent but still quite adequate. The rear bumper has cladding and a sliding plate. Meanwhile, square LEDs are connected with two lines of characters.

This SUV with a length of 4,040mm, a width of 1,770mm, and a height of 1,605mm is available in four color options: Phantom Black, Denim Blue, Cosmic Gray, Polar White, and Lava Orange. However, Hyundai Philippines does not offer two-tone finishes like the world market.

2. Hyundai Venue 2020: What's inside the car?

The neat and luxurious Hyundai Venue interior is based on minimalism.

With a compact crossover, the minimalist and neat interior makes the car space more comfortable—a luxury car theme with effects from gray shades.

Hyundai designers decorated the silver trims around the AC vents, a single spoke of the steering wheel and the gear knob.

The capacity is five people with ample legroom for all passengers—comfortable seats with soft materials. The storage space is surprisingly spacious, with a capacity of 355 liters. Also, you can fold the rear seats to increase space for the trunk.

The rear seats have decent space but can be a bit cramped for adults. 

3. Hyundai Venue 2020: Engine & performance

Hyundai Philippines equips both 2020 Hyundai Venue’s current variants, the GLS 6AT and the GL 6AT, with a 1.6-liter MPI Gamma gasoline engine system. The engine power is 123 hp at 6,300 rpm, and with a maximum torque of 151Nm at 4,850 rpm. The 4-cylinder engine with two fuel injectors is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Besides, its noise resistance is quite useful as you will not hear engine noise until the car hits 2000 rpm.

The engine's continuously variable power is transmitted through the two-wheel drive system.

Regarding the suspension, the front of the system has the strut, and the rear has the brace. That layout helps Hyundai Venue absorb bumps and roughness on the journey. When at low speeds, the steering is relatively light and will gradually increase weight when accelerating. The brake-based torque system allows the steering wheel to respond to your slightest movement. Besides, drivers can switch to a neat driving mode and optional traction control to optimize dynamics based on performance.

ABS and EBD technology is available on the brakes of both variants. The vehicle's material is advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) that enhances durability and minimizes collision damage to the car. 

The car performance itself is smooth and comfortable enough. 

4. Hyundai Venue 2020: Features and safety

The infotainment system includes an 8-inch touchscreen nestled between two AC vents. Hyundai Venue has retained the matching popular mobile operating systems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to maximize its entertainment experience. In addition to the touchscreen, you can adjust the infotainment system via knobs below the display and three large dials to control vehicle temperature and AC settings.

Design upgrades from Tucson, Hyundai added a three-spoke steering wheel for the Venue. The steering wheel also includes entertainment and steering controls. You can see essential information through an easy-to-understand analog instrument cluster.

Hyundai Venue ANCAP rating is 4 stars 

The base safety system in the 2020 Hyundai Venue includes six airbags and seat belts for all passengers.
